Emmanuel Tjeknavorian

The highly anticipated debut of Emmanuel Tjeknavorian on the podium of the Filarmonica TRT marks the encounter with one of the most magnetic talents of the new generation. The young Viennese conductor of Armenian origin leads a program that intertwines family heritage and the great Russian tradition: the opening is a tribute to his father, Loris Tjeknavorian, the Iranian-Armenian composer whose Suite from the opera Rostam and Sohrab evokes Persian legends through warm Middle Eastern colors and pressing rhythms. The journey continues with the sharp irony of Shostakovich’s Ninth Symphony, a masterpiece that subverts all rhetoric, culminating in the rhythmic triumph of Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances.
