Andrea Battistoni

A hymn to life that unites the earthly and the sacred: Andrea Battistoni leads the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio in an all-Italian program of dazzling energy. The opening is a tribute to the Turin-born composer of Jewish origin Leone Sinigaglia: his Suite Piemonte is a colorful fresco where the simple movements of folk song blend with an elaborate symphonic structure, the fruit of the mastery he learned in Prague from Dvořák. Then comes the vibrant Messa di Gloria by Pietro Mascagni: an explosion of lyricism and dramatic tension that transforms the sacred into pure melodrama, featuring the exceptional voices of Dmitry Korchak and Franco Vassallo.
