A choral conductor and pianist, Gea Garatti Ansini holds diplomas in piano and choral music/conducting from the “Giovan Battista Martini” Conservatory in Bologna. She furthered her studies at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome and specialized in the Kodály method at the University of Esztergom in Hungary.

Throughout her thirty-year career, she has collaborated with some of Italy’s most prestigious opera and symphonic foundations, including the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, the Teatro Massimo “Vincenzo Bellini” in Catania, and the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, where she has led the vocal ensemble since 2018.

She has conducted and prepared an extensive operatic and symphonic repertoire, working alongside renowned conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Antonio Pappano, Daniele Gatti, Michele Mariotti, and Sir John Eliot Gardiner, as well as esteemed stage directors like Franco Zeffirelli, Damiano Michieletto, Hugo de Ana, and Mario Martone. In 2022, she was awarded the Tina Anselmi Prize for her outstanding achievements in a profession traditionally dominated by men.

As of March 2026, she serves as the Chorus Master of the Teatro Regio Torino.
