The new production, premiered in Italy, boasts the direction of the young Alessandro Talevi, graduated in London, winner of the prestigious “European Opera-directing Prize” and requested by major European theatres. Making her debut on the podium of Orchestra and Chorus of the Regio is the young Speranza Scappucci, a rising star of the glorious Italian school of conductors named “Artist of the Month” by the prestigious Musical America. The cast includes singers international renowned who are specialised in the Rossini repertoire such as: Chiara Amarù, Antonino Siragusa, Paolo Bordogna, Carlo Lepore.
Alessandro Talevi, born in Johannesburg to Italian parents, leads for the first time in Italy the show from the Swedish Malmö Opera. The director explains: «My Cinderella is set in Rome in the fifties and is fascinated by the big movie star, like all the girls after World War II. Alidoro is the crucial character of “my” Cinderella, a great director of Cinecittà in search of the heroine for his new film». Respectful to the score, this production has a protagonist very close to teenagers nowadays, a new reading of acute social analysis.
