Season 2015-2016

The Opera looking beyond

The proposals for the next season address precise cultural thematic strands that between operas and concerts, will delve into periods and authors of the European musical heritage created in the last four centuries. The 2015-2016 Season has three main ‘fils rouges’ that accompany the viewer on new paths: the Baroque opera, the Project Janáček-Carsen, and a choice from the best international productions never before seen in Italy.

Teatro Regio Torino 9-26th July 2015

The Teatro Regio has decided to dedicate the month of July 2015 to the public of the Universal Expo, an event in which the City of Turin will play a key role both for its strategic position and for its cultural diversity.

To meet the growing passion for opera, one of the greatest Italian cultural heritage, within the broad range of EXPO TO, the Teatro Regio will present: The Best of Italian Opera. Four great operas of Italian repertoire will take turn from 9th to 26th July: La bohème by Giacomo Puccini, The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini, La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi and Norma by Vincenzo Bellini. It is a massive production that will engage all the theatre workers in the preparation to present a different opera every day, totalling sixteen performances. The partner in this important initiative is: Intesa Sanpaolo, founding member of the Teatro Regio, and Official Global Partner of Expo Milano 2015.

The public will have the opportunity to admire four main titles of the history of Italian opera, from the tragic to the sublime, not to mention the irony and laughter. The masterpieces will be interpreted and directed by the greatest artists of the international scene with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio Torino.
