On Wednesday, 21st June at 20:00, the Teatro Regio stages Macbeth by Giuseppe Verdi. Gianandrea Noseda will be on the podium of the Orchestra and Chourus of the Teatro Regio directing Verdi's first opera inspired by Shakespeare, in its supernatural and fantastic setting. The new production, co-produced with the Teatro Massimo of Palermo and Macerata Opera Festival, is directed by Emma Dante, a Sicilian actress, director and dramatist among the most creative and revolutionary of the international theatre scene. A cast of exceptional soloists gives life to the score of great musical intensity: Dalibor Jenis plays Macbeth, Anna Pirozzi is Lady Macbeth, Vitalij Kowaliow plays Banco and Piero Pretti is Macduff. Macbeth will also be featured at the Edinburgh International Festival from 18th to 20th August, along with La bohème by Puccini and Verdi's Messa da Requiem. This important tour is also under the direction of Noseda.

Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, is a Singspiel full of magic and mystery, will be staged at the Teatro Regio from 16th to 28th May, in fairy-like production directed by Roberto Andò. On the podium of the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio is the conductor Asher Fisch, the Israeli conductor already acclaimed by the public of the Regio for the Carmen of 2016. The cast of first-rate soloists such as Ekaterina Bakanova, Antonio Poli, Olga Pudova and Markus Werba will face one of the most complete and perfect scores ever written.

Tuesday, 14th March at 20, the Regio is staging Manon Lescaut by Giacomo Puccini. Gianandrea Noseda, on the podium of the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio, conducts another masterpiece by Puccini so closely tied to the Teatro Regio: the world premiere took place right here at the Regio back in 1893. A cast of exceptional soloists brings to life this score of great musical intensity: María José Siri interprets Manon, Gregory Kunde is Renato Des Grieux, Dalibor Jenis interprets Lescaut. The opera will be broadcast on TV Rai5 at 21.15 and live on Rai Radio 3 as well as in all cinemas of the international circuit.

On Wednesday 11th January 2017, at 20:00, the Regio stages a new setting of Pagliacci, Ruggero Leoncavallo’s masterpiece, 125 years after its premiere. The direction is signed by Gabriele Lavia, actor and director among the most representative of the last decades of the Italian theatre. Nicola Luisotti is most welcome at the Regio conducting the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro, on his first opera production after the success of I Concerti season. Two sopranos will alternate in the title role, giving voice to Nedda: Erika Grimaldi and Davinia Rodríguez. The tenor Fabio Sartori is Canio.

From 20:00 on Friday 21st October the Teatro Regio will occupy an honourable place in www.theoperaplatform.eu with the broadcast of La bohème opening the 2016-2017 season. Gianandrea Noseda conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of the Regio in a new staging by Àlex Ollé, the innovative director of La Fura dels Baus. This inaugural Bohème was created to celebrate the 120th anniversary of its world premiere, which took place right here at the Regio. This production has: Irina Lungu (Mimi), Giorgio Berrugi (Rodolfo), Kelebogile Besong (Musetta), Massimo Cavalletti (Marcello). The opera will be accessible for six months on demand, until 20th April 2017.
