Savonlinna, Olavinlinna Castle 2nd – 6th August 2016
After the recent tour in Hong Kong, Paris and Essen, triumphantly welcomed by critics and audiences, the Teatro Regio was invited to the prestigious Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland, one of the oldest and most renowned international Festivals, now in its 104th edition.
From 2nd - 6th August, in the splendid setting of Olavinlinna Castle, two of our productions will be on stage: La bohème and Norma. Gianandrea Noseda will conduct the Orchestra and Chorus of the Regio and maestro Claudio Fenoglio will conduct the choir.
La bohème will be staged on 2nd, 4th and 6th August and will be directed by Vittorio Borrelli. An exceptional cast will give life to the touching love story between Mimì and Rodolfo. The soprano Erika Grimaldi will play the main character, Mimì; the tenor Stefano Secco will be Rodolfo; the soprano Kelebogile Besong gives voice to the character Musetta. Rounding out the cast we have: the baritones Simone Piazzola (Marcello) and Simone Del Savio (Schaunard); bass Alexander Vinogradov (Colline) and Matteo Peirone (Benoît and Alcindoro).
This historic staging created by Giuseppe Patroni Griffi celebrating the centenary of the opera premiere, presents the famous masterpiece by Puccini in the Paris of the late nineteenth century, inhabited by protagonists characterized by their routine, spontaneous and ordinary lives, capable of highlighting the unforgettable melodies created by the composer.
