Hänsel und Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck, the homonymous tale by the Brothers Grimm, is much more than a mere opera for children. The conduction of Pinchas Steinberg will surely be able to underline the high quality of the score, the favourite one of authors such as Richard Strauss and Gustav Mahler, highlighting the fine compositional traits that make the title, quite rightly, one of the greatest masterpieces of the opera of the late nineteenth century. The main characters on stage are: Annalisa Stroppa (Hänsel ) and Regula Mühlemann (Gretel).
