The European tour of the Teatro Regio in the name of Giuseppe Verdi
Spain, France and Germany are the destinations of the tour that will take the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio, conducted by Music Director Gianandrea Noseda, to some of the most prestigious theatres and concert halls in Europe from 18 to 30 May. Another important recognition after the extraordinary tour last summer of the orient – which totalled 24,500 members of the audience – and an accolade for the Regio that finds its quality, competitiveness and reliability recognised at the international level.
A tour in the name of Giuseppe Verdi, indissolubly linked to Italian opera tradition. The tour begins in Spain with the Requiem Mass, on the program in Castellón de la Plana (Auditorio – 18 May), Madrid (Auditorio Nacional de Música – 20/5), Oviedo (Auditorio Príncipe Felipe – 21/5) and Saragoza (Auditorio Palacio de Congresos – 23/5). In Murcia (Auditorio Victor Villegas – 19 May) an important concert dedicated to the most beautiful operas and sacred works of Verdi.
The Regio moves to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris on 25 May, where Verdi’s Quattro pezzi sacri and a selection of pieces from Vespri siciliani will be proposed. The concert marks the beginning of a collaboration with the Parisian theatre, where every year the Regio will be called to perform an opera in concert form: a new challenge and a new partnership with one of the most prestigious theatres in Europe.
The tour concludes on 29 and 30 May in Germany, where the Regio has been invited – after the success of Rigoletto in 2008, to the Internationale Maifestspiele in Wiesbaden. Here, La traviata, directed by Laurent Pelly, will be staged with on the podium maestro Marco Armiliato.
