Presentation

The Filarmonica ’900 proposes great music from Russian and Italian films, pieces for the cinema composed by Prokofiev, Shostakovich e Rota. By Prokofiev, there will be the Suite op. 60 from the music for Lieutenant Kije, of which the film has unfortunately been lost; by Shostakovich the Second suite for jazz orchestra; by Rota the soundtrack of several of Federico Fellini’s film masterpieces – like Amarcord, La dolce vita and Otto e mezzo –, together with the Ballata for horn and orchestra, “Castel del Monte”, written in 1974, which testifies to the great capacity of the composer also outside the world of cinema.
